本文以英汉两种语言中的数字习语作为研究对象，经过对比发现，英汉数字习语在这些方面有很多相同之处。英汉数字习语的文化内涵都与民族心理、神化、宗教有着十分密切的关系。作者从归化和异化的角度论述了文化策略在数字习语翻译中的具体运用。作者认为，只要能够传达原文的意义和效果，就应该采取异化译法：而只有当异化译法不能传达原文意义或会导致误解的情况下，采用归化译法。为此，作者提出了以下几种翻译策略：直译法，直译加释义法和意译法。通过上述阐述和例证，作者强调数字习语翻译必须深入了解双方的文化；并强调只要切实把握了双语间文化的差异及语用效果，采取相应的策略，就一定会不断提高数字习语的翻译质量。

1. Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
Numbers play a decisive role in the whole developing process of human society. Ever since primitive time, when records were kept by tying knots, till now, the information time. People can’t go without numbers. It’s not very hard to find out that during the development of numbers, people have been composing lots of numerical idioms. Actually these numerical idioms are “Fixed words or phrases composed by numbers and fixed words phrases”, which are applicable both to Chinese and English. Most of the English numerical idioms are those fixed idioms accumulated in a certain social condition and economical culture. Thus, they’re provided with extended meanings or diverted meanings.
1.2 Objective of the Study
In English idioms, the application of numbers is very common. During the long historical process of human, the use of numbers is not only restricted to calculation, but rather, it bears the weight of much culture information, which has formed a special numerical culture phenomenon. However, the idioms are the most sensitive part of a language, which reflects different traditional cultures. So, the study of English numerical idioms is not only good for English learners to know the western culture and their cultural psychology better, but also it can stimulate foreign language study, and make full use of the numerical idioms’ intercultural function.
